The new generation
Hard training makes champions. This is why we have continually developed the contactor DILM since its market launch four years ago and have successfully implemented further potential by close co-operation and exchange of ideas with our customers.
The result is impressive: the next Xstart generation has further innovations to offer in addition to the attractive design and special solutions for individual customer segments
Tool-less plug connection
As an interface between the switchgear and to the accessories, tool-less plug connections offer the opportunity to quickly wire the system both error-free and without tools.
Using these plug-in units, motor-protective circuit-breakers and contactors are simply combined to make a motor starter.
Furthermore, tool-less plug connections are used to connect the motor filters or older pin adapters

Moeller contactors always operate reliably even under extreme environmental conditions.
An excellent level of protection is offered by perfect encapsulation of the openings.
The ingress of dirt or other foreign bodies is prevented on the contactors by perfect encapsulation features
Optimum contact through knurled contact surfaces
Knurled contact surfaces with eight contact points guarantee that a reliable contact is made even at small loads.
Product features
Box Terminal
Contactors DIL up to 170 A feature box terminals with two terminal chambers. Thus, different conductor cross-sections can be safely wired – even on machines subject to a high level of vibration. Furthermore, all the connections are freely accessible from the front. This simplifies wiring and thus reduces wiring errors.
Identical construction design: AC = DC
Contactors with AC and DC mechanisms have identical geometry's. The contactor accessories, in particular the wiring aids, can be used independently of the voltage type.
Integrated suppressor circuit
In order to protect neighbouring, sensitive electronic components, all DC operated contactors feature an integrated suppressor circuit.
Electronic actuation
The DC actuated contactors DILM17 to DILM170 feature electronic actuation.
Advantages
- Minimised heat dissipation enables a good heat balance in the control panel
- Direct actuation of the contactors up to 38 A by the PLC saves on coupling relays
- Extended voltage tolerance guaranteed reliable operation even on less stable power grids
- Wide vol tage range coils covers all voltage variants with just a few types.
On contactors DILM7 to DILM38 an auxiliary contact is integrated in the base unit. This can be configured as an N/C or N/O contact.
The integrated auxiliary contact avoids the need for an additional auxiliary contact attachment in many applications

The tried and tested PKZM 0 now switches motors up to 32 A. Simultaneously, its short-circuit switching capacity has been increased significantly. The short-circuit rating (400 V) is now rated to 150 kA up to 12 A and 50 kA up to 32 A.
The PKZM 4 also has a switching capacity up to 50 kA. It facilitates engineering. Current limiters become practically obsolete.
With just two motor protection variants, the entire range from 0.1 to 65 A is covered. It saves precious inventory space and simplifies the e ngineering effort.
The PKZM 4 with a width of just 55 mm is the narrowest switch for 65 A. Precious space in the control panel is saved!
Accessories: Full functionality with only few versions
The auxiliary contact modules can be fitted without any tools and provide fail-safe information about each switching state. This also applies to the NHI-E auxiliary contact module, which fits within the PKZ and can be mounted from the front. Additional advantage: It is within the unit width and thus requires no space at the side.
Whether it be an integrated auxiliary contact, a trip-indicating auxiliary contact, a voltage release or door coupling handles, the accessories for the PKZM 0 can also be used for the PKZM 4
PKZ 2 Motor and System-Protective Circuit-Breakers
Plug-in trip blocks: Fast adaption to engineering changes
Various plug-in trip blocks allow the PKZ 2 to be converted in no time at all. 3-pole and 4-pole trip blocks are available for motor and system protection. Differential signalling clearly indicates the switching states of the circuit-breaker.
Auxiliary contact modules, voltage releases or trip-indicating auxiliary contacts can be fitted quickly and easily.
When used in combination with the PKZ 2 basic unit, the ZMR-PKZ 2 plug-in trip block with overload relay function switches off the downstream contactor rather than disconnecting the circuit-breaker in the event of a motor overload. The PKZ 2 thus remains switched on and does not need to be manually reset.
PKZ 2 has intelligent accessories to allow flexible solutions for a wide range of communication tasks. The RS-PKZ 2 electronic remote operator can be actuated directly, without any coupling elements from the semi-conductor outputs of a PLC (24 V DC)
Auxiliary contacts for applications with electronic
DILA-XHIR22 – switch small signals reliably
The DILA-XHIR22 front-mounted auxiliary contact from Moeller enables users to switch small signals reliably. One auxiliary NO contact and one auxiliary NC contact are provided as micro switches. These contacts with their operating range – min. 1 mA at 3 V – are specially designed for signals as they occur in joint operation with PLCs and other electronic components.
Thanks to their dust-tight design DILA-XHIR22 contacts are also suitable for harsh ambient conditions.
DILA-XHIR22 units are also provided with one conventional NO and one NC contact, which are required for tasks such as self-latching. The new auxiliary contact for electronic applications can be combined with DILA contactor relays and DILM7 to DILM38 contactors (7 to 38 A AC-3 at 400 V). Its dimensions are identical with the established front mounting auxiliary contacts. Both NC contacts, as well as the micro switch and conventional contact meet the mirror contact functions according to IEC/EN 60947-4-1 Ann. F. In addition to signaling in electronic circuits, they are particularly suitable for feedback signals in safety applications such as contactor feedback signals in the feedback loop of a safety PLC.
The DILA-XHIR22 front mounted auxiliary contact is approved for use in accordance with UL and CSA so that it can be used worldwide
DIL M: AC and DC contactors – perfect twins
Our AC and DC contactors DIL M have absolutely perfect dimensions: externally identical just like twins should be. And that for all four sizes up to 170 A. This simplifies planning and engineering.
The compact external dimensions also save precious space in the control panel.
The contactor series up to 38 A even features integrated auxiliary contacts.
At a second glance the inner values are the most important:
- Integrated suppressor
Voltage peaks must be avoided when controlling the contactor directly from the PLC. This is why all DC contactors feature integrated suppressors ex-works. They ensure that very short switch-off times can be realised.
- No coupling relays necessary
The limitatio n of the DC pick-up power is decisive here. The new contactors DIL M – up to 38 A – can be controlled from a PLC by 0.5 A DC outputs.
- Low pick-up and holding power
The PLC outputs are subject to a significantly lower load. The holding power has been minimised. For example a DILM38 requires a holding power of just 0.5 W. It is therefore unnecessary to have to consider the utilisation factor or maximum current carrying capacity
- Twin box terminals provide safety
Simpler mounting: even different conductor cross-sections are now safer to wire
Contactors DILM up to 1000 A (AC-3) and DILH up to 2000 A (AC-1)
Moeller produced contactors for the highest currents up to 2000 A.
All the DIL M contactors from 185 A up to 2000 A have electronically controlled drives. You can choose between two available variants: standard and comfort version.
The standard version offers the following benefits for your application with contactors from 185 A to 500 A:
- Significantly less heat rise in the switchgear cabinet due to the sealing consumption being reduced to just 4%
- Long contact lifespan by optimisation of contact forces
- Integrated suppressor for DC actuated contactors
- Auxiliary contacts: 2 NO, 2 NC
- Pricing advantages when standard versions are used
The comfort version offers the following additional benefits for your application with contactors from 185 A to 2000 A:
- Design engineers need to allow only for small control transformers due to reduced pick-up consumption
- Considerably wider voltage tolerance than the Standard demands represents greater reliability in the event of voltage fluctuation
- Direct actuation from PLC possible.
DIL M contactors from 580 A are vacuum contactors that offer considerable advantages over air-break contactors:
- The switching chamber remains absolutely maintenance free for the entire device lifespan.
- The electrical lifespan is significantly longer than with air-break contactors
- It is possible to achieve a higher packing density and cleaner distribution chamber since no open arcing occurs
