An automatic transfer switch (ATS) is different to a generator controller as it only monitors the mains and generator power but does not start the engine. The unit normally sits in a monitor panel and and has connections to the generator controller. When the mains power fails the ATS gives a command to the generator controller to start the generator set. Once the generator set is up and running the ATS then switches over the power from mains to the generator. The ATS will then check the mains to see when the power returns, once the power returns the ATS will switch over the mains and then tell the generator to stop.

View items...Manual Start / Auto Start
A manual start unit is the simplest form of electronic generator controller and is one step above "pull start" generator. This device is almost identical to the controls in your car. The device usually has a key and button to start the generator. If your mains power fails and you need to use generator power, you have to turn the key, to start the generator manually.
An automatic start module has all the same features as a manual start, the unit can also be set start automatically when the mains power or some other input is given to the module

An automatic mains failure ( AMF ) module is a combination of an automatic start module with an automatic transfer switch. The module will monitor the mains and generator power like an ATS but added to this is the ability for the module to control the generator as well.
The module works like an auto start module in operation. the difference being it can create its own start input from conditions it can monitor. The AMF module is normally used when backup power system is required for a site
View items...Load Share / Synchronising
A synchronising and load share unit is the ultimate generator controller, they come in many forms including allowing up to 16 generators to be combined together and even providing power to the national grid electricity system.
The synchronising and load sharing module can also be used in conjuction with a 'mains controller' to monitork the mains and act as an ATS for all the generator sets.

View items...DSE 3110
The DSE3110 can be utilised as a Manual or Auto Start Module for single generating set applications and forms part of DSE's next generation of control modules. The module has been designed to work with electronic and non-electronic engines providing advanced engine monitoring and protection features.
The DSE3110 includes a back-lit LCD display which clearly shows the status of the engine at all times. The module monitors engine speed, frequency, voltage and run hours and also displays the warning and shutdown status of the engine.
The module includes six digital inputs and four outputs. The module can either be programmed using the front panel or by using the DSE Configuration Suite PC software.
The module is available in two variants: Magnetic Pick-up and Canbus.
DSE5510M
The DSE5510M is an Automatic Engine Control Module, designed to provide advanced load share functionality for diesel and gas generating sets that include non-electronic and electronic engines. The module also provides excellent engine monitoring and protection features. The modules load share functions include, automatic synchronising with built in synchroscope and closing onto dead bus. Direct and flexible outputs from the module are provided to allow connection to the most commonly used speed governors and automatic voltage regulators (AVR’s). The module has been designed to combine a maximum of 16 generators and 16 mains (utility) supplies up to a maximum of 20 in one system, e.g. 16 generators and 4 mains (utility) supplies (DSE5560 required to synchronise with the mains) The module has the ability to monitor under/over generator volts, over current, under/over generator frequency, under speed, over speed, charge fail, emergency stop, low oil pressure, high engine temperature, fail to start, low/high DC battery volts, fail to stop, generator short circuit protection, reverse power, generator phase rotation error, earth fault protection, loss of speed signal, fail to open, fail to close, out of sync and MPU open circuit failure, negative phase sequence and loss of excitation.
The DSE332 is an Automatic Transfer Switch Controller for single set genset applications. The module will monitor the voltage and frequency of the incoming AC mains (utility) supply (supports many topologies) and in the event of a failure will issue a start command to the generator control system.
Once the generator is available and producing an output within limits, the DSE332 will control the transfer devices and switch the load from the mains (utility) to the generating set. Once the mains (utility) supply returns to within limits, the module will command a return to the mains (utility) supply and shut down the generator after a cooling run. Various timing sequences are available to prevent nuisance starting on minor supply breaks.
The DSE332 includes a clear back-lit LCD 4-line text display, showing system status and warnings. Red and Green LEDs also indicate operation status. The module includes configurable digital inputs and outputs and is programmable by PC using the user-friendly DSE Configuration Suite Software. Limited programming is also available via the module’s front panel.
DSE2510
The DSE2510 is remote device designed to work with the DSE7310 Auto Start and control module.
Up to three remote devices can be connected to one host control module up to 1km away. The devices offer exactly the same instrumentation, control and monitoring capabilities as the host control module, including starting and stopping of the engine.
All three remote devices will display the same information at the same time, while the host controller is able to work independently, showing different sets of information.
The modules are simple to operate and feature the same user-friendly menu layout as the host module.
All communications and programming are done via the host module only. The remote devices simply mirror the programming of the host module making the system quick and easy to install.
The DSE6110 is an Auto Start Control Module for single gen-set applications. The module has been designed to work with electronic and non electronic engines providing advanced engine monitoring and protection features. The module includes a backlit LCD display which clearly shows the status of the engine at all times. It monitors, speed, frequency, voltage, current, oil pressure, coolant temperature and fuel level. The module has also been designed to display the warning and shutdown status of the engine. The module includes six digital inputs, three analogue inputs and six outputs. Two of the outputs are configurable on the magnetic pick-up version and all six are configurable on the Canbus version. The module can either be programmed using the front panel or by using the DSE Configuration Suite PC software.
